West Palm Beach criminal defense attorney Kelly V. Landers recalls events of significance that occurred this week in history.

On May 15, 1972, while campaigning for the presidency, Alabama governor George Wallace was shot — leaving him partially paralyzed.

On May 17, 2010,  Graham v. Florida, issued by the Supreme Court, life without the possibility of parole was ruled unconstitutional.

On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart began the first solo, nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean by a female pilot.
