On October 2, 1967 Solicitor General Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as the first African-American Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
On October 3, 1995, O.J. Simpson in the “trial of the century” was found not guilty of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman.
