This Week in History: Iconic Color Film Kodachrome Discontinued

Featured Image, above: Over its 74-year production, Kodachrome was produced in formats to suit various still and motion picture cameras, including 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, and 35mm for movies and 35mm, 120, 110, 126, 828, and large format for still photography. Kodachrome was manufactured by Eastman Kodak from 1935 to 2009. It was for many years used for professional color photography, especially for images intended for publication in print media. On June 22, 1977, John Mitchell became the first former U.S. Attorney General to go to federal prison.

On June 22, 2009, Kodak announced that it was discontinuing its iconic color film, Kodachrome, introduced in 1935.

On June 23, 1992, Crime boss John Gotti, the so-called “teflon don” was sentenced to life in prison in New York.

On June 26, 2000, Apprendi v. New Jersey, right to jury trial for sentencing enhancements now required.
