West Palm Beach criminal defense attorney Kelly V. Landers recalls events of significance that occurred this week in history:
On September 18, 1975, Patty Hearst was arrested by the FBI in San Francisco, after having been kidnapped by, and ultimately joining, the terrorist group Symbionese Liberation Army.
On September 19, 1900, famed outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid robbed the First National Bank in Winnemucca, Nevada, their first robbery together.
On September 22, 1862, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln issued the first Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that slaves in rebel states should be freed.
