On October 19, 2005 deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein defiantly pleads not guilty to crimes against humanity as his trial opens in Iraq.
On October 20, 1973 the “Saturday Night Massacre” occurred: President Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox; Richardson and DAG William Ruckelshaus resigned in protest.
On October 24, 2005 Rosa Parks, civil rights activist, died at 92.
