On November 4, 2008: the first African-American President, Barack H. Obama, was elected.
On November 5, 1872: Susan B. Anthony and other women suffragists defied federal law and voted in Rochester, New York. Anthony was arrested, convicted and fined $100.00.
On November 7, 1932: Powelll v. Alabama, The Scottsboro Boys Case, held that due process requires the timely appointment of counsel in Capital Cases.
On November 8, 2000: a recount of presidential ballots began in Florida in the disputed 2000 election between Al Gore and George W. Bush.
